Did you think of any questions as you were reading through the NHME Guide, or any of the Bonus Material? Any questions about the Styling & Maintenance Tip Videos? You can post them below if you’d like!
I just ordered the NHME kit, Thanks!! and I’m listening to the Q & A of the first module right now but I have one question that has been puzzling me for a while….Okay I have been “natural” for almost 2yrs BUT I go to the hair shop every week and get it washed and conditioned and blowed out and flat iron, and when it’s wet with the products she uses it’s beautiful but she just won’t tell what she’s doing and I guess my question is am I considered a real natural? Im tierd of paying all this money every single week and Im scared to go on my own where I would need to go back to her and she starts to act funny towards me for leaving…..??? what do you think?
Sabrina
———- Hey Sabrina!!
Welcome!! :0) Perfect timing! I just finished up the Q & A session for module 2 and I should have it posted tomorrow!!
Haha! No need to have the quotations around natural! You are a real natural!! In my opinion, as long as you do not have a relaxer, you are natural. You just choose to wear it straight for right now, that’s all! :0)
Now are you planning on continuing to wear it straight and you want to learn what she does to make sure it comes out the way you like? Or are you planning on starting to wear it in it’s curly state? It can be scary when you start to do your hair on your own! Especially if you feel you might have to go back to her to fix it, if it doesn’t come out quite how you’d like. The hard thing is, no matter what, you are going to have to leave eventually. What about if you try to spread it out a bit more? Until you get used to your hair, would you be able to go 3 times a month instead of every month? Then you could use the week that you don’t go to experiment and try it yourself.
Although, I will say, if you are planning on continuing to straighten your hair yourself, you will want to be careful, and take your time.
I guess, let me back up a bit… what are your goals? Do you want to continue to wear it straight and save money be doing it yourself? Do you want to wear it curly? Or do you want the freedom to wear it either way, and just know how to do it yourself… period! :0)
Let me know, and then I’ll go from there!
Talk to you soon Sabrina!
HEEYY! (I’m all excited, this is cool to talk to someone who actually cares to listen to me cause Im long winded)
But yes, I would like to wear my hair either way when ever I want to but it’s sooo thick that every time I have tried to blow it out and attempt to flat iron it, it’s been thumbs down, when she does it people always ask me “Do you have a relaxer?” Because that’s how bouncy and straight it is..I love it, …but I also love me in my kinks…Like I said I got to the shop every Sat and I just started thinking of how much money I could save if I could just learn how to do it myself, that is the kinky way, and then eventually the straight way. I’ve seen what it looks like (my hair) naturally curly and it is beautiful she’s always playing in it and saying stuff like “O I wish I could have your hair and Sabrina you should wear it this way” but she hides everything for me to try it at home. Ive had Carols Daughter products and they smell good but don’t always work for me as far as her hair products. ( told you Im long winded, I don’t talk much to anyone besides my fiance) but anyways thanks for writing back and love your honesty and all of the information I just don’t know when to start cause Sat is coming up soon…later
———- haha! You’re so funny! You’re not long winded, it’s perfectly fine! :0) You know your stylist is not going to tell you what she does, because you are a faithful client! Not every two weeks, but every week!! She wants you to keep coming! :0) While you are thinking about how much you would save, she is thinking about how much she would lose! So you are going to have to learn a way to get the results you want without her help. But no worries… it can be done!
Yes, Carols Daughter products do smell really good! What have you tried doing with them? Different styles? Moisturizing treatments? Have you tried any other products? Was there anything you liked about the products, or was it a complete fail? I’m just asking so I can get an idea of what you might want to try next. The last thing you want is to spend the money that you will save from going to the salon on products!
Why don’t you email me your response and we can continue via email! lbn@luvbeinnatural.com – I’ll look out for your email Brina! Talk to you later! :0)
Hi, 1st things first, without you and your team, I’d be lost! haha. I did the big chop 2 months ago, and i’m getting tired with rockin the same style all the time….I know i should be patient and wait for a little bit more length, but the suspense is killing me! I tried henna-ing my hair twice now and it hasn’t took! Sooo frustrating :(. I’m wonder if there are any cute things I can try with my hair when it’s this short? (about 2 inches long). Should i try blowing it out and flat ironing it for a change? What did you do with yours when you first started? I just feel like i’m at a stand still with it..
——– Hey Melissa!! Thanks! I’m so glad it’s helping! :0) Yes, patience is important, but in the mean time, while you wait there are still some styles that you can try. You can try a blow out if you’d like, just make sure to use a cool setting. It might take a little longer, but it’s worth it. You can also try flat twist styles or french braid styles. Even if you don’t leave the twists/braids in as your style itself, it can add a little bit of a different definition to your twa. One thing I used to do was french braid my hair towards the back of my head and sleep with them in. There were a few braids on my head because my hair was short, and I wouldn’t leave them in because I did a horrible job, and I wouldn’t be caught dead walking outside with those braids in my hair… haha! But when I took the braids out, My hair would be stretched and defined. You can even try that with a blow out if you’d like. I’m working on finding a twa model so that I can post some twa style tutorials!! That’s in the works and on its way! If you try any of these styles or others, let me know! I’d love to know how it works out! Let me know if you have more questions! :0)
I had listen to all the, live Q and A sessions all three, the sessions are wonderful and it does help you out a lot, i agree with it, i had mess up and famous for buying products, i went to sally’s and i was trying to buy some shampoo. I end up buying shampoo and the coconut co wash by “As I Am” I thinking about trying it, they did told if it doesn’t work, I can get something else. I told you before i have some other products that i got, and that was couple ago, i was listening to all your session and does helps me out a lot. You know it does takes patient, be gentle, its a hair journey. I remember one time i put yogurt in my hair and add honey, oil, vinegar and my hair was hard to comb never again with that stuff, my hair is not used to it, so that’s out. If it wasn’t for you doing this natural hair made easy program, i don’t no what would happen. So i think this is a blessing everything is natural and simple and easy, and you are taking time with us, by talking and answering our questions, and helping us when we have a problem. Thank you
———– Hey Yvette! Have you gotten to listen to the latest 3 Q & A calls? I hope so, because they are good ones! How did the coconut co wash work out for you. did you like it? I was trying to wait and give you a chance to use it a few times before I checked up. Sometimes you have to use a product more than once to know if you like it or not! :0) Keep me posted!
I will get a picture soon.
I struggle with dry hair. I have a TWA and I put in 2 strand twists. I am still experimenting with different products. Sometimes I will take my twists out and after fluffing my hair is really dry (even though I sprayed my hair, coated it with leave in and oil and the styling product the night before). My question is, at that point, is there anything I can do to add moisture to my twist out without messing it up? Help!
Hey Regina! I understand your frustration! Let me ask you a few questions, and then I can give you more feedback. How often do you wash and deep condition your hair? Do you notice if it’s dry for most of the week or tends to dry out as the days go on? When does your hair feel the most moisturized? Before you two strand twist, how do you apply your product/leave in? Do you apply in larger sections or do you comb it through with a detangling tool? Talk to you soon!
Hello there…I have finally listened to all of the Q&A sessions. All of the informations is so informative. I really appreciate all of your helpful feedback. I would like to know what your routine is for when you style your hair with micro braids. Do you braid your hair wet, do you braid with conditioner on it. I guess my thinking is after you wash and detangle with conditioner, is the hair too slippery to style in micro braids?
Thanks,
Regina
Hello,
I just ordered the program and I am looking forward to getting started. My first question is related to pH testing. Should I conduct a pH test with every product that I use? If so, can you explain how to do this test and why it is important. Thank you.
Kalu
Hello Kalu!!
Welcome to the program! Many products on the market, especially all natural products have already been pH tested. I typically don’t test the pH of the products that I use. Many times you can tell by the way the product makes your hair feel. If you’d like to test your products, you can purchase a pH testing kit. Each one comes with instructions for that particular kit. The one I used a couple years ago, you just needed to dip the tip of the strip in the product and wait to see the results. It was pretty simple. If you’d like to test some products you can purchase strips online as well!
